Support Groups

What is a Support Group?

An opportunity for individuals to meet on a regular basis to discuss the experience of loss together and exchange mutual support. Groups are commonly formed to include members experiencing similar losses in order to focus on areas of shared difficulty. Support groups take place in a safe, confidential space and are facilitated by experienced members of the Good Shepherd Counseling Services Team.

Good Shepherd offers a variety of support groups which are free of charge and open to the community including but not limited to:

  • Loss of a Parent
  • Loss of a Spouse or Partner
  • Caregiver Support

Coping with the Holidays - Bereavement Workshop

Saturday, October 29th 10:00am - 11:45am

IN PERSON at 160 Wells Ave. Newton, MA 02459

Facilitated by Jeanie Carson

The winter holiday season is often touted as “the most wonderful time of the year.” However, for those who have experienced the loss of a loved one, the holidays can be a time filled with sadness, loneliness, and grief.

This workshop will offer the opportunity for people to meet with others who are coping with loss and find connections and comfort through the grieving experience. Good Shepherd will also offer tips and guidelines learned from other bereaved people that have helped them cope in the past.

RSVP by October 26, 2022 to Laura McGann at lmcgann@gscommunitycare.org or call (617) 969-6130.
