Good Shepherd Charity Runners

At Good Shepherd Community Care, our mission extends far beyond the bedside - it moves with us. Whether we’re supporting families through grief or providing compassionate care at the end of life, our commitment to community shows up in unexpected places—including on the starting line.

For over 15 years, our commitment has extended to the racecourse. Running and philanthropy have become an important and growing part of Good Shepherd’s culture. Whether it’s through charity races, community events, or grassroots fundraising, our staff, supporters, and friends are finding new ways to turn movement into meaning. These efforts strengthen not just our programs, but also the spirit of connection and purpose that drives our work.

Since 2013, Good Shepherd has proudly participated in the City of Newton’s charity bib program for the Boston Marathon, raising more than $126,000 to support our mission of providing exceptional end of life care, support and education to our patients and families in Greater Boston. Past participants have been employees, board members and friends of the organization, each running for a unique reason: in memory of deceased loved ones, to support a program that is special to them and in honor of their shared commitment and compassion for our work.

More recently, Good Shepherd has also started to get involved in other notable races, such as the Falmouth Road Race. In 2025, we were proud to have a team of 6 dedicated runners support our organization; who together raised over $12,000.

Our runners are not only athletes; they are advocates who are literally putting their bodies on the line to honor loved ones, elevate compassion, and ensure families have access to the care they need most.

We are currently seeking business sponsors to support our charity runners and help advance our mission. These dedicated individuals are raising funds and awareness on behalf of the patients and families we serve. By partnering with us, your business can play a visible and meaningful role in making every mile count toward compassionate care in our community.

“I never thought I’d have the chance to participate myself—and now that the opportunity has come my way, I couldn’t be more thrilled! Not only will I be pushing myself to achieve a new personal milestone, but I will also be running for a team supporting an amazing cause”. -Britta M., 2025 Falmouth Runner

“With family roots in Falmouth, this weekend has always been a special time for us. This year, I decided it was time to take the leap from spectator to participant. But I didn’t just want to run—I wanted to do so with a purpose. That’s why I’m excited to join Good Shepherd Community Care’s inaugural charity race team”. -Joe C., 2025 Falmouth Runner

“It is so special for me to be able to fundraise for Good Shepherd as my mom had hospice for the last few months of her life. They also provide grief support and community outreach for end-of-life topics completely free, making it accessible for all. This is something that has become a passion of mine as I started my own grief community, Dead Parents & Co, to help connect young adults who have lost a loved one and provide a space to come together to talk about a topic that is often not given the attention it needs. I know my Mom would be so proud to see not only her running buddy tackling the Boston Marathon, but also for the impact I'm hoping to make bringing attention and support to grief.” -Maggie Q., 2026 Boston Runner
